Submission Guide

Aim: Exchange of Indian and French students at pre-PhD level. Target: MSc., MTech., Master, Science & Engineering students. Very bright and motivated BSc. students having spent 4-years of university training may also become eligible.

Guidance: Selected students are supervised by the PI proposing the project in one country and recommended/followed by a tutor PI in the other country.

Modus operandi: Open calls all the year long.

  1. Projects are being proposed by French and Indian Principal Investigators (supervisor PI) and are submitted to Web Site Manager (Dr. Frederic Godde) with copy to Coordinators (see the template .DOCX or .PDF)) who approve/select projects in consultation with the Scientific Committee. Selection is made on the basis of scientific renown of both PI and laboratory/industry, and PI's capability to supervise students. (Two weeks time, acceptance letter sent by Coordinators).
  2. Selected projects are placed on the web site and the Scientific Committee makes approved projects known to target students (via Institutes/Universities/Industries).
  3. Interested students contact supervisor PI's and reach mutual agreement (sanctionned by an invitation letter from PI, which is NOT a formal acceptance).
  4. Students apply (a single PDF file containing: Motivation Letter + CV + Acceptance Letter from supervisor PI + recommendation letter from a tutor PI in the applicant's country agreeing to follow the project (it would be wise if tutor PI and supervisor PI work in similar areas)). Application must be sent to Web Site Manager (Dr. Frederic Godde) with copy to both Coordinators Profs Erick Dufourc and DD Sarma.
  5. The final selection is made by the Scientific Committee, who is considering the quality of students, their motivation and a recommendation from a tutor PI in the applicants'country (one week time).
  6. Students apply (a single PDF file containing: Motivation Letter + CV + recommendation/acceptance letter from a tutor PI in the applicant's country agreeing to follow the project (it would be wise if tutor PI and supervisor PI work in similar areas)). Application must be sent to both Coordinators Profs Erick Dufourc and DD Sarma
  7. The coordinators submit the candidatures to governments clearance (one month time)
  8. Once approved, CEFIPRA/IFCPAR coordinates travel & accommodation. It is the students responsability to obtain a visa.
  9. The final evaluation is made after completion of the project and a certificate is issued indicating the student's performance.
