Nowadays modern electron microscopyprovidesstructural information beyond nanometer scales when high performant instruments are combined with adequate sample preparations. Such structural information are essential for understanding basic structural biology and cellular biology but also for characterizing a large variety of polymer/chemical complexes.
The presentation will highlightvarious examples covering the fields of chemistry /polymer chemistry and biology. Various methods of sample preparations are available for characterizing molecular and cellular samples including cryoTEM, tomography, immunogold, cell section, and correlative light and EM approach.
The TEM platform is recently located at B14 building. Two cryoTEM microscopes ( FEI CM120 and F20 FEG ) are available lead by the team of A. Brisson and O. Lambert, Marion Decossas and Sisareuth Tan being the engineers in charge of the platform.
Marion Décossas graduated in Cellular Biology and further obtained a PhD in Neurosciences from the University of Bordeaux in 2003. She obtained a Researcher Engineer Position at CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research, France) in 2005 in Strasbourg in the Unit of Sylviane Muller “Therapeutical Immunology and Chemistry” UPR 9021. After 6 years, she returned to Bordeaux at CBMN_UMR 5248 date on 2011 working on the Electron Microscopy Platform and member of the Olivier Lambert’s Team (“Architecture of membranous complexes and cellular processes”).
